Time for a light post. I saw a website while surfing the net. This website shows pictures of glaciers shot in early 20th century and very recently. I am putting one of the pictures here. I think this picture says there is a huge effect of global warming on glaciers.
I saw the following picture from my personal experience. I am putting this picture here. This picture shows the image of the same place in Canada taken in 2009 and 2010. Difference in the amount of snow in both the image is clear.
In the upper picture, street is covered with snow in 2009 whereas no snow can be seen on the street at all in 2010. I would have jumped to the conclusion that its due to global warming but this is the half story. Story completes once I give you the complete data. Again look at the same image with more details on it.
Ha ha ha... interesting! right? Statements loose its importance and conclusions are incomplete if a little information is missing. I can not say anything about the situation of global warming. but here there is a piece of GLOBAL WARNING!! think carefully before we conclude something....
I do not know what is the current situation about GM....

@Rajesh: I liked the point brought out in the article. This is the way any propaganda, conspiracy theories are designed. Show facts but arranged, sequenced or as you point out with holding certain information in such a way to convince the audience. In our world of television and digital media the world is more conducive to such practices. Having said that it is again the digital media, internet that allows us to view varied arguments. Quite a situation!!!
As for the climate crisis ... I am convinced that it is a threat to mankind from more direct evidences that I have first hand experienced.

When you use word "Propaganda", It reminds me of one of your lines taken from NOAM CHOMSKY about the use of Propaganda in democracy.
So what are the reasons behind these kind of stories? "Whose" interest are solved by these?
@Rajesh: Yes Noam Chomsky has been telling that for years now. Like so many voices he is another voice, but definitely the most compelling.
Whose interests? I guess it depends. The muslim extremist have one story to tell. It serves their purpose. US creates stories that serve their purpose as a country. Our politicians have more stories. The list goes on and on.
Guess what, with so many voices and so much of propaganda today it is difficult not to be cynical. It is your mind that can think too ... it is a massive cognitive exercise to process so much of information. Because this exercise is so massive we all avoid to get into that. Which eventually helps in making this world a more conducive place for propaganda and conspiracy theories.

Global warming is a serious issue , and most of the countries are genuinely worried over it. Looking for a solution . Let's see..
